Featured UYB Podcast: Streamlining Your Business: Lessons in Efficiency, Delegation, and Growth

Running a business is a lot like juggling—clients, team members, bills, systems, and about a hundred details that never seem to slow down. That’s why in our latest Unstuck Your Business podcast episode, we sat down with Jenn Dickel from Seasonal Navigation, a business operations and project management expert who helps established businesses streamline their workflows and scale with confidence.

In this conversation, my co-host Inez and I dug into what it really takes to create a business that doesn’t just run—but runs efficiently.

Why Operations Matter More Than You Think

Jenn reminded us that efficiency starts with the basics: receipts, billing details, and documentation. Having quick access to information and building habits around organization can save countless hours and prevent costly mistakes. She also highlighted the importance of systems for both physical and digital receipts, stressing that credit card statements alone won’t cut it for accurate record-keeping.

The Entrepreneur’s Challenge: Systems Before Software

One of the biggest takeaways was that tools don’t fix broken processes. Before investing in project management software or a CRM, entrepreneurs need to step back and document how their business actually works. From there, tools can enhance—but not replace—good systems.

We also talked about the potential of AI and automation to support process-building, but only once a business owner is ready to invest the time to understand and implement these solutions.

Resistance to Change: The Real Roadblock

It’s not always about finding the right solution—it’s about being willing to use it. Jenn shared how resistance to change can slow progress, and why it’s critical to identify top problems, prioritize them, and adapt as needed. Sometimes the best strategy is to pause, address the real roadblock, and move forward with clarity.

The Power of Documenting, Delegating, and Learning

At the heart of our conversation was a simple but powerful truth: businesses grow when leaders let go. Documenting processes makes it easier to delegate, and delegation frees you up to focus on higher-level decisions. Mistakes will happen—but that’s where learning and repetition come in.
